NEWS FLASH 2005 - Sinclair Unveils His New Vehicle !

July 2005 - Sir Clive has at last revealed the new vehicle he promised , it was a bit of a let down , basically a folding bike , but at least he is still flying the flag !!

Guess What 13th July 2006 - Ordered one of the new A bikes (could not resist) which was officially launched yesterday - will update site with details of it when it arrives !!

Personal News Flash 2006 - Boxed Unused Zike in the Collection !!

Thanks to Ben Higg's I am now the proud owner of a BOXED UNUSED ZIKE !! Ben won the Zike in a contest run by the TODAY newspaper many years ago !! He was given his prize , which was delivered to him in the Chairmen's Jag' , but after a quick trial period , the poor ZIKE died on him so he was given a replacement Zike then by Sinclair . This Zike has stayed in dry storage ever since , complete with box , and boxed unused manual etc etc. As only 2000 Zikes were made , to the best of our knowledge , and I already have 5 of them , and having seen many poor examples on ebay changing hands , plus based on the fact that like Bens initial one  , some of them must have had problems , and been returned , this makes the one we now have off Ben , very rare , and the holy grail of the collector , in that it is boxed and unused ! First thanks to Ben for selling it to us , and giving us first refusal on it , and we will be doing some photos of it , soon as we get a moment , or after we move. Second if anyone has  one boxed and unused please let us know , as it may be the only one left on the planet !!

4th August 2006 ** David M , wrote to me to let me know he has a boxed unused one also !! So there are at least two in this condition !! **

I also currently own 5 of the remaining original 2000 Sinclair Zikes , I am going to start a register of these and put up some info etc on the site , so if you have one , and want to register it here again please mail me , if you have one you want to sell , again please email !

Keep checking back for more updates !!

I also now own the five original pieces of art done by Roger Garland for Sinclair Spectrum Software , again photos of these to be added at some point !!

I am a collector and enthusiast of many 'older' things , and find it strange that some other web site owners choose to criticise my web site as a commercial web site , when I am currently not selling any Sinclair C5's , Zikes , or merchandise , and if and when I do it is spare ones I have in the pursuit of a perfect collection , I find it also very strange that these same sites ARE selling things , which are NOT real or Genuine Sinclair C5 merchandise !! Still its a strange old world , I OWN (and have it on my wall) one of the remaining concept drawings of the C5 produced in 1983 , by Guy Desbarats , I also have a signed letter by Perran Newman , confirming this is one of the originals. I have told the other sites which are showing pictures of these drawings that I now own it , and asking them to put a note on their web sites asking people if they know the where about's of any of the other of these Sinclair C5 Concept drawings , as I have heard some of them were destroyed ? If you know anything about them please email me at - info@retro-trader.com - so I can put it up here and let everyone know !

These C5's etc. are NOT FOR SALE , I have put them up as this site is a showcase for my collection as well as selling off the spare stuff !!

I will also be constructing a whole new tribute web site ASAP about Sinclair Vehicles (www.sinclairvehicles.com www.sinclairvehicles.co.uk) including my collection which currently is this -

1 x C5 Standard Model - Original Number created = Approx 17,000 in total

1 x C5 Twin Battery Model (mint condition) - Original Number created = Unsure about the twin battery model

Various C5 spares and accessories !

5 x Zikes + 3 x Baskets + Paperwork + Spares For Zikes - Original Number created = Approx. 2000

1 x Zeta Mark 1 - Original Number created = ?

1 x Zeta Mark 2 - Original Number created = ?

Approx 10 C5 Phone cards - Original Number created = Believe it to be 500

1 x Original C5 Concept Drawing - Original Number created = Of this one - It is the only one in the world !

Approx 20 BRAND NEW ROSPA guides to driving the C5 - Original Number created = ?

(Here is some basic stuff as per the Ebay adverts of the things I have bought )

I have a Sinclair Zike - here are the photos and text from the seller - 'Another gem or wombat depending on your point of view from Sinclair research. Dating from the early 90's The Zike electric bike superceded the C5 in state of the art rechargeable transport. Incredibly rare and not very often up for sale. Only 2000 of these bikes went into production. This one is No 1148.In very good condition all round, it has hardly been used and looks like it has been stored for most of it's life. Complete with carrying basket (£25 extra when new) Has the charger, original handbook, promotional leaflet and invoice of sale dated 7/6/93 at a cost of £479.00.The motor works when the charger is plugged in but the batteries will probably need replacing by now as it just makes a whirring sound from the batteries only. A nice example of this quirky machine.'

I also have a Sinclair Zeta Unit - here are the text and photos from the seller (and yes I have the brand new battery) -  'Sinclair Zeta Bike Electric Bike System The Zeta, or Zero-Emission Transport Accessory, was first launched in 1994 at a price of £144.95 and has since undergone two design revisions. It is best described as a box with a roller on the bottom of it, which is clipped onto a bicycle wheel. The Zeta's electric motor, which is activated via a control attached to the bicycle handlebar, propels bicycle and rider along at up to 14 miles an hour. There exists a brand new battery for this unit, however the shipping charge will jump from 6 to 12 pounds as it is weighty. Buyer may purchase battery locally if required else will ship. Unit runs fine hardly used as original owner got a car, still works fine, bolts to the a frame of any mountain bike fits in 15 mins, I have used the bike it was fitted to once got me to and from local rugby club without pedaling 7 miles and i weigh 15 stones so a good little unit really.'

I now own this original Sinclair C5 concept drawing by Guy Desbarats .  This is not a copy or a print but the original drawing. This drawing is signed by Guy Desbarats and is dated 1983.  The drawing comes with a letter of authenticity signed by Perran Newman who also worked on the C5 design. It is not currently for sale but I thought you guys might like a look at it !

I am on a roll at the minute with C5's - I just got this BT General 445 Transport Sinclair C5 mint card + I got some spare ones as well  !!

__________________________________________________

These are the Ebay photos of the C5 taken by the person selling it -

This is the description of it by the seller - ' I have taken the C5 on a short journey and it all seems to drive nicely.  The only thing I cannot get to work is the LED display on the front.  I tested it by using my own battery which is not included.  The battery connectors are the round type which will fit a leisure battery, these are very easy to get hold of. This C5 is in good used condition, it does have some scuffs and scratches but does look overall very neat.'

As I bring it back up to full spec' I will post updates and photos , please also check back for spares for sale as well !!

NEWSFLASH !!! 9th June 2003

Guess what , I have got another one as well !! Yesterday bought a rare factory fitted two battery model in as new condition , no wear and tear on the wheels etc. Here are the details as was advertised , more on this later !!

'This is a rare opportunity to own a Sinclair C5 that has never been used. Original unused tyre's still have the small pimples on them ! and also the original delivery stickers. Another rare feature is the factory fitted twin battery system. Fully working lights, motor and instrument pod. Bodywork is excellent with only one scuff mark about 3 inches ling on the left hand side and the usual very minor flecks from the reflective stripes. Underneath is immaculate (you could eat your dinner off it!). Comes with battery, toolkit, keys and mud flaps (never fitted) and seat cushion (not shown).'
